Graduate Resident Director: 12-Month Appointment

About the role

The Graduate Resident Director (GRD) assists the Director of Residence Life and Student Affairs Staff with day-to-day activities; interviews/selection, supervision, training and development of undergraduate Resident Assistant staff; development of educational programming for residential students; coaching/behavioral intervention; and referral to other Campus resources, when necessary.

Responsibilities

• Assists with interviewing and selecting undergraduate Resident Assistants.
• Supervises, trains, and develops undergraduate Resident Assistants.
• Develops educational programming for residential students.
• Coaches and intervenes in behavioral issues.
• Refers students to other campus resources as needed.
• Serves as a resource in crisis and emergency situations.
• Performs administrative tasks as necessary.
• Participates in an on-call rotation.
• Assists with summer conferences, housing concerns, facilities and maintenance checks in rooms, addressing student and guardian questions, first year student housing, and other administrative tasks as required.
• Plays a key role in the planning, implementation, and hosting of various events and activities, including but not limited to: Housing selection, Move-in/out, Welcome Week, Hall closings, etc.

Requirements

• Current or prospective graduate student at Mount Aloysius College.
• Enrolled in one of the College’s Master’s degree programs.
• (Successful completion of Bachelor’s degree required).
• Strong record of academic achievement as an undergraduate student with a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above required.
• Outstanding interpersonal and organizational skills, as well as satisfactory undergraduate student conduct record required.
• Maintain confidentiality, prioritize tasks, and remain self-motivated.
• Able to maintain certification to drive College fleet vehicles.
• Two (2) years’ experience in residence hall leadership or other related leadership experience preferred.
• Genuine interest in the Student Affairs profession is strongly preferred.
• Knowledge of Google Suite and other team management/communication tools is a plus.
• Ability to work independently and as a member of a team, as well as take initiative is highly valued.

Benefits

• Tuition credit for full-time enrolled students up to eighteen (18) credits for the 26-27 academic year (typically 9 credits per semester).
• A modest stipend is awarded for hours worked.

Pay

This position is not eligible for benefits or remote work.

Schedule

The Graduate Resident Director (GRD) is required to live on campus and is provided with a furnished studio-style apartment with a private bath, living room, and kitchenette. A complimentary meal plan is provided when the dining program is in session. The GRD is responsible to devote an average of 20 hours per week to their assigned duties during the semester for a total of 300 hours per semester. During the summer months, outside of the academic year, the GRD will devote up to 30 hours per week to their assigned duties.
