Role Snapshot

This is a player-coach seat. You run a reduced book of high-value Google Ads clients and lead a pod of up to seven Account Managers. Your accounts are the standard. Your team is the multiplier. Your headline outcome: keep great clients, longer. You build a team that spots risk early, handles the hard conversations, and makes retention the default, not the exception. If you like owning campaigns and growing the people who run them, this is the seat. You won't build your Account managers' campaigns for them. You set the bar, QA the work, unblock what's stuck, and develop the people doing it. You will fully own your own book.

Strategic & Client Responsibilities

  • Senior strategic advisor and escalation point for the Employee's own clients and all clients in the pod.
  • Personally runs a reduced book of PPC accounts end-to-end (fewer clients than a standard Account Manager).
  • Develops and adjusts Google Ads strategies from data and business objectives, for own clients and in guiding pod Account Managers.
  • Exercises independent judgment planning and prioritizing deliverables across the team.
  • Analyzes team and client-level metrics and prepares interpretive reporting with recommendations.
  • Makes autonomous decisions on strategy direction within Company guidelines and manages client expectations.
  • Identifies upsell/cross-sell opportunities and coaches Account Managers to do the same.
  • First point of contact for Account Manager escalations on payments, client elevations, and technical issues; personally handles high-stakes situations.
  • Maintains a healthy client portfolio while ensuring no client experience suffers because of your leadership responsibilities.
  • Tracks and reports pod-level metrics monthly.

Leadership & Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Leads a team of up to seven Google Ads Account Managers, directing and coordinating their day-to-day work.
  • Coaches and develops Account Managers through weekly 1:1s, role plays, and growth planning; reviews work, calls, and deliverable quality.
  • Onboards and ramps new Account Managers and leads ongoing PPC/LSA education for the pod.
  • Provides recommendations on hiring, evaluation, promotion, discipline, assignment, and termination - including interview participation.
  • Flags to management when the team is at capacity and additional Account Managers are needed, and surfaces underperformers who may warrant termination.
  • Allocates and reassigns accounts and distributes work across the team.
  • Solves client and team issues using independent judgment without constant supervision.

Experience Required

  • 3–5 years of hands-on Google Ads experience managing campaigns at a high standard. You consistently build, optimize, and scale profitable campaigns and can confidently QA the work of other account managers.
  • Previous leadership experience leading, mentoring, or coaching account managers or client-facing teams. This is not a first-time management role.
  • Demonstrated ability to improve team performance. You've helped others become better marketers through coaching, feedback, documented processes, and accountability.
  • Systems-oriented operator. You build repeatable processes, documentation, and quality control systems rather than relying on individual effort.

Preferred

  • Experience managing Google Ads for home service businesses (HVAC, plumbing, roofing, electrical, landscaping, cleaning, pest control, moving, etc.). You understand the blue-collar service industry, local lead generation, call-driven businesses, seasonality, and what drives profitable customer acquisition.
