EMCOR Facilities Services (EFS) has an immediate opening for a General Maintenance Worker I at Stanford Healthcare Center in San Jose, CA. The technician will report to the Assistant Chief Engineer and support key initiatives to ensure effective, efficient, and timely delivery of EFS’s services and products through a proprietary facilities supplier network.

Responsibilities

  • Performs preventive maintenance and corrective repairs on buildings, equipment, and grounds.
  • Acts as the primary point of contact between EMCOR Facilities Services and suppliers to meet client requirements.
  • Applies multiple trade skills—carpentry, plumbing, electrical, painting, roofing, HVAC, and others—to solve maintenance problems.
  • Conducts scheduled field inspections (service and asset inspections) and incorporates feedback on supplier effectiveness and client satisfaction.
  • Completes assigned work orders on schedule and obtains necessary materials and supplies.
  • Attends weekly toolbox safety meetings and uses mandatory safety equipment.
  • Completes EFS-required training.
  • Performs routine painting, carpentry, and minor repairs to maintain facilities in like-new condition (e.g., drywall repair, paint matching).
  • Handles minor plumbing maintenance (e.g., unclogging toilets/drains, repairing leaks, replacing fixtures).
  • Performs minor electrical maintenance within state law limits (e.g., fixture/switch/outlet repair, lightbulb/ballast replacement).
  • Utilizes technology (routing software, tablets, handhelds, company vehicles) to drive productivity and service delivery.
  • Estimates time and materials for repairs and collaborates with the Operations Manager to provide client quotes for out-of-scope work.
  • Meets or exceeds Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for safety, inspections, and technology use.
  • Identifies out-of-scope work opportunities and presents them to the Operations Manager.
  • Fosters a positive client relationship and ensures customer satisfaction.
  • Maintains consistent communication with Service Delivery and Procurement departments.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent; degree/certification in Electrical, HVAC, Plumbing, or related field preferred.
  • Two years of mechanical experience (electrical, plumbing, carpentry) or equivalent training/education.
  • Construction-related industry experience highly preferred.
  • Valid driver’s license in good standing.
  • Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with customers and employees.

Pay

$35–$39 per hour.
