GM/Sales Manager - Manufacturing

About the role

We are looking for an experienced and motivated GM/Sales Manager in Manufacturing to lead our building equipment company. In this role, you will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of the business, making sure everything runs smoothly from sales and customer service to inventory and staff management. You will work closely with department heads to set goals, track performance, and make decisions that keep the company growing and profitable.

Responsibilities

  • Operations and Leadership: Oversee all departments within the company, including sales, service, warehouse, and administration. Set clear expectations for each team, monitor performance, and step in to solve problems when they come up. Ensure the business runs efficiently every day.
  • Financial Management: Responsible for meeting revenue and profit targets. Review financial reports, manage budgets, control costs, and identify areas for improvement. Report financial results to ownership or the executive team regularly.
  • Sales and Customer Relations: Support the sales team in building and maintaining strong customer relationships. Help close large accounts, resolve customer issues, and ensure excellent service. Identify new business opportunities in the market.
  • Team Development: Hire, train, and develop staff across all departments. Create a positive and productive work environment where employees feel supported and motivated. Conduct regular performance reviews and coaching.
  • Inventory and Supply Chain: Work with the warehouse and purchasing teams to ensure the right equipment and parts are available when needed. Manage supplier relationships and negotiate pricing and terms when necessary.
  • Safety and Compliance: Make sure all company operations follow industry regulations, safety standards, and company policies. Ensure the workplace is safe for employees and that all equipment sold or rented meets required standards.

Requirements

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in a management or leadership role, preferably in the equipment, construction, or industrial sector.
  • A proven track record of meeting or exceeding sales and profitability targets.
  • Strong leadership skills with experience managing teams across multiple departments.
  • A solid understanding of business financials, including budgeting, forecasting, and profit and loss statements.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work well with staff, customers, and suppliers.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to make sound decisions under pressure.
  • Proficiency with standard business software such as Microsoft Office and inventory or ERP systems.
  • A valid driver's license and the ability to travel locally as needed.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in the building equipment or heavy machinery industry.
  • Familiarity with equipment rental operations in addition to sales.
  • A bachelor's degree in business, operations management, or a related field.
  • Experience using CRM software to manage customer accounts and sales pipelines.
  • Bilingual communication skills are an asset.

Negotiable Salary: Depending on Experience ($100k - $130k)
