About the role

The Global Insights Manager will drive customer and market insights that shape strategy for Amgen’s inflammation business. This role integrates primary market research, secondary analytics, competitive intelligence, and internal knowledge to build a clear understanding of market dynamics, customer needs, and strategic opportunities. The individual in this role is a collaborative business partner who will help influence strategy through objective, insights-driven recommendations. This individual should be comfortable working through ambiguity, adapting to evolving business needs, and translating complex market, customer, access, clinical, and competitive dynamics into clear strategic implications.

Flexible Commuter role to Thousand Oaks, CA. Work will be on-site for a minimum of 2 days each week.

Responsibilities

  • Integrate multiple sources of evidence, including primary research, ad hoc secondary analytics, competitive intelligence, advisory boards, internal knowledge, and cross-functional input, to inform strategic decision-making.
  • Develop and execute insights plans for key inflammation assets, ensuring activities are aligned to evolving business and stakeholder priorities.
  • Lead primary market research across study design, research material development, execution, analysis, synthesis, and communication of implications to inform strategic business priorities.
  • Translate insights into actionable recommendations by connecting market, customer, access, clinical, and competitive dynamics into clear strategic implications.
  • Partner across Global Marketing, Value & Access, Forecasting, Competitive Intelligence, Analytics, Medical, and other functions to embed insights into business planning and decision-making.

Requirements

Basic Qualifications:

  • Doctorate degree, OR
  • Master’s degree and 2 years of primary market research, management consulting, strategic insights generation, commercial analytics, or related healthcare/pharmaceutical experience, OR
  • Bachelor’s degree and 4 years of primary market research, management consulting, strategic insights generation, commercial analytics, or related healthcare/pharmaceutical experience, OR
  • Associate’s degree and 8 years of primary market research, management consulting, strategic insights generation, commercial analytics, or related healthcare/pharmaceutical experience, OR
  • High school diploma/GED and 10 years of primary market research, management consulting, strategic insights generation, commercial analytics, or related healthcare/pharmaceutical experience.

Skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Strategic synthesis and problem-solving skills, with the ability to evaluate complex information, identify implications, and develop actionable recommendations.
  • Cross-functional influence and stakeholder management skills, including the ability to manage multiple stakeholders and projects in parallel, navigate ambiguity, and adapt to evolving priorities.
  • Primary market research expertise, including experience with qualitative and quantitative methodologies, such as opportunity assessments, patient journey, positioning, message testing, segmentation, and concept testing.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to present complex concepts clearly and persuasively to cross-functional partners and senior stakeholders.
  • Inflammation market knowledge, including understanding of treatment decision-making, competitive landscapes, clinical differentiation, patient journeys, and evolving standards of care.
  • Biopharmaceutical commercialization fluency, including familiarity with pipeline, launch, lifecycle strategy, forecasts, competitive intelligence, and commonly used industry datasets and databases.

The expected annual salary range for this role in the U.S. (excluding Puerto Rico) is posted. Actual salary will vary based on several factors including but not limited to, relevant skills, experience, and qualifications.
