General Repair Worker
About the role
The position exists to perform semiskilled labor to assist skilled craft employees in maintenance and repair at MCF-Faribault. To train, motivate, direct and supervise offender labor in a maintenance setting so that offenders learn appropriate work behaviors and gain skills.
Responsibilities
- Ensure offenders are trained and motivated to perform tasks safely and efficiently.
- Direct and supervise offender labor in a maintenance setting.
- Provide work instructions to unskilled helpers.
Requirements
- Maintain a valid Minnesota Driver's license appropriate with the vehicles they operate.
Qualifications
- Knowledge of general methods and practices of a variety of trade areas.
- Knowledge of occupational hazards and safety measures related to trades work.
- Ability to safely use hand and power hand tools.
- Ability to safely operate and maintain trucks, tractors, and other ground and road maintenance equipment.
- Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
Skills and abilities
- Skills necessary to fabricate, install, remove, repair and select proper materials to perform various maintenance, repair and construction.
Physical Requirements
The completion of pre-placement physical components may be required prior to hire for this position. These components consist of a tuberculosis, commercial driver's license (CDL) drug test, and/or respiratory clearance. The selected finalist may be required to review and sign a Physical Demands Analysis (PDA) for this position.
Additional Requirements
- The selection process may include screening the top candidate(s) on their criminal history, predatory offender registration, offender associations and/or other applicable background information in accordance with Department of Corrections’ policy.
