General Repair Worker

Location: St. Paul • Full-time, unlimited (permanent) position • Non-telework

About the role

Provide building-trades services and respond to agency and employee requests in facility management, office-space planning, modular-furniture installation, construction, demolition, maintenance, relocation, and reconfiguration projects. Assist with MnDOT motor-pool and warehouse operations as needed. In consultation with the Central Office Facility Supervisor, meet organizational goals for service level, reliability, cost-effectiveness, safety, and customer satisfaction.

Responsibilities

• Build cubicles and make repairs to building components.
• Assist licensed trades workers in mechanical, masonry, welding, electrical, plumbing, and carpentry tasks.
• Repair equipment, tools, and facilities in a timely and safe manner.
• Operate and maintain trucks, tractors, and other ground and road-maintenance equipment.
• Follow oral and written instructions.
• Provide work instructions to unskilled helpers.
• Perform physically demanding tasks such as lifting, carrying, and bending.

Requirements

• Experience with a variety of trade areas (e.g., mechanical, masonry, welding, electrical, plumbing, carpentry).
• Experience using hand and power tools.
• Ability to safely operate and maintain trucks, tractors, and other ground and road-maintenance equipment.
• Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
• Ability to provide work instructions to unskilled helpers.
• Ability to perform physically demanding tasks (lifting, carrying, bending).
• Valid Class D Driver’s License.

Preferred Qualifications

• CDL Class B Driver's License.

Physical Requirements

• Frequently lift objects up to 50 pounds.
• Transfer objects of various weights.
• Walk, move, and stand for long periods.
• Sit while pushing or pulling arm and leg controls.
• Perform strenuous physical labor including hauling, crawling, bending, pushing, pulling, and climbing.

Additional Requirements

• Successful candidate must pass past-employer reference checks and criminal history check.
• Background investigation, including SEMA4 records check, employment reference check, education/license verification, and drug testing (if needed).

Pay

$27.24 – $31.35 per hour ($56,877 – $65,458 annually).

Schedule

7:00 AM – 3:30 PM, Monday – Friday.
