General Manager, Large Markets
About the role
The General Manager, Large Markets is responsible for the overall health of the branch operating unit to encompass Wilkes Barre and surrounding areas. The role requires creating a positive work environment, encouraging a culture of customer service and employee morale, and delivering on the financial objectives of the organization.
Responsibilities
- Run the business to meet or exceed plan
- Drive profitable sales growth
- Manage daily sales performance via trainers and sales leaders (or directly if at a small branch), and partner with them to reach/exceed sales goals
- Ensure execution of all sales strategies
- Engage in community outreach and develop relationships; be the market expert relative to competitors and community activity, as well as potential acquisitions
- Take part in key customer engagement
- Manage the financials and participate in the budgeting process
- Be the escalation point for customer issues
- Be the liaison for Enterprise and Shared Services resources, products and services
- Partner with Shared Services to ensure a positive customer experience
- Drive / implement company-wide initiatives
- Communicate systems/process improvements or suggested new processes to the RVP for further evaluation and escalation
- Own all aspects of talent management and ensure all direct reports who are managers do the same
- Hire and promote the talent needed to meet or exceed plan
- Develop team members, including close engagement with technician training
- Create and maintain a healthy work environment where employee engagement is high, including reinforcing Vector’s strong culture relative to our purpose, mission and values
- Retain high performing talent
- Engage in strong performance management, i.e., establish goals, hold meaningful career conversations, conduct on-going / meaningful performance discussions, and hold meaningful year-end assessment conversations
- Recognize team members
- Hold all team members accountable for their work, ensure compliance with company policies and procedures, and make difficult decisions when team members aren’t meeting expectations
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree - preferred, or equivalent experience in business management or related field
- Minimum 10-Years of successful leadership
- Capacity to create effective sales driven culture
- Must be able to make decisions based on sound judgement and must possess the highest levels of attention to details
- Must be able to assist in personnel decisions regarding various aspects/stages of employment
- Must be able to multi-task and manage multiple projects, departments, and personnel
- Valid Driver's License, with acceptable driving history
