About the role

The Heavy Rental General Manager sets and achieves the Machine Division Heavy Rental Fleet’s short and long-term strategic plans in alignment with the company's Vision, Mission, and Values. The role delivers value to customers through short-term rental and return to stakeholders through rental fleet asset management. Responsibilities include customer service process development, rental fleet asset management (planning, acquisition, disposition), and rental fleet maintenance processes.

The incumbent is expected to model the following practices daily:

Responsibilities

  • Hire, develop, evaluate, and influence effective and consistent productivity and teamwork to ensure Legendary Customer Service (LCS)
  • Model, promote, reinforce, and reward consistent use of HOLT’s Values Based Leadership (VBL) tools, models, and processes
  • Understand customer needs in Heavy Rental and execute a strategy to build value for customers and return for stakeholders
  • Lead the Heavy Rental Fleet’s operational processes in customer service delivery, fleet asset management, and fleet maintenance
  • Maintain and grow collaborative relationships across Machine sales and Service, Texas First Rentals, SITECH, the Caterpillar dealer network, and customers
  • Hire, train, develop, evaluate, and manage human resources to exceed customer service, rental revenue, and return on investment targets
  • Work safely and adhere to all applicable safety policies; comply with company policies, procedures, and standards
  • Perform other duties as required

Requirements

  • Strong rental fleet asset management knowledge
  • Cross-functional experience within dealership operations including Sales, Product Support, and Services delivery
  • Ability to align teams to achieve business objectives
  • Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, leadership technique, and coordination of people and resources
  • Critical thinking skills to identify strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills; ability to present formally before groups
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
  • Strong data analytical skills
  • Excellent self-management, multi-tasking, and organizational skills
  • Ability to work with all levels of personnel within the organization and customer operations
  • Understanding of economic and accounting principles and practices, including invoicing, credit management, financial markets, banking, and financial data analysis and reporting
  • Ability to perform mathematical computations quickly and accurately
  • Ability to work independently and effectively within a team in a fast-paced, high-volume environment with emphasis on accuracy, timeliness, and achievement of goals
  • Strong listening and questioning skills to effectively understand verbal and non-verbal communication
  • Advanced computer skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Sales Force, Microsoft Dynamics)

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Management, Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field preferred
  • Minimum of eight years of work-related skill, knowledge, or experience
  • Previous demonstrated experience in leadership and operational management

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Interviewing, hiring, and training employees
  • Planning, assigning, and directing work
  • Coaching and development
  • Appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees
  • Addressing complaints and resolving problems

Travel

Routinely out of the office, with overnight stays of 20% expected. Valid driver’s license required.

Physical Requirements

  • Extended periods in a stationary position
  • Occasional movement inside the office to access office machinery, file cabinets, etc.
  • Frequent communication with others; ability to exchange accurate information
  • Routine reaction to visual, auditory, and other signals, including alarms and instructions
  • Occasional movement or transport of items weighing up to 15 lbs.

Work Environment

  • Generally performed indoors in a professional office environment
  • Occasional outdoor work with exposure to weather extremes (inclement weather, heat, cold, humidity)
  • Additional outdoor conditions may include damp/wet surfaces, hazardous materials, flammable liquids, high noise areas, dust, and unfavorable fumes and vapors
  • Frequent fast pace with unscheduled interruptions
