General Maintenance Mechanic

About the role

The General Maintenance Mechanic position is available in El Centro, CA. This role is part of Global Precision Systems, LLC (GPS), a company founded in 2007 as a Small Business Administration (SBA) certified firm. GPS specializes in facility operations and maintenance, logistics services, and administrative support, serving various government agencies and departments across the United States and internationally.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Work with a variety of surfaces including buildings, curbs, parking lots, and fences.
• Perform repairs to plumbing systems, including removing, cleaning, replacing parts, unclogging sinks, toilets, and shower drains, and performing minor electrical work.
• Oversee the Tool Room, ensuring cleanliness, tool identification, distribution, and return, reporting broken tools, and maintaining tools in good condition.

Required (Minimum Necessary) Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
• 0-1 years of related experience.
• US Citizenship.
• Pass an ICE DHS Background check.
• Register for Selective Service if not registered.
• Knowledge of different types of tools and their uses.
• Able to bend, stoop, walk long distances, and lift up to 50 lbs.
• Ability to work in various weather conditions.
• Respectful and professional behavior towards colleagues and all personnel.
• Willingness to work on weekends as needed.

Preferred Qualifications

• 2 years of general maintenance work experience in plumbing, electrical, HVAC, painting, and construction.
• Computer literacy.
• Willingness to work on weekends as needed.

Necessary Physical Requirements

• Maintain a constant state of mental alertness.
• Maintain physical condition necessary for bending, stooping, sitting, walking, or standing for prolonged periods.
• Comfortable and alert working around detainees.
• Hot temperatures up to 120°F and cold temperatures down to 40°F.

Supervisory Responsibilities

This position does not have supervisory responsibilities.

DOT Covered/Safety-Sensitive Role Requirements

This position is not subject to federal requirements regarding Department of Transportation "safety-sensitive" functions.
