General Maintenance Mechanic

About the role

Maintains continuity of service for the heating, cooling, steam, gas, water treatment, general utilities, emergency back up systems, equipment and machinery necessary for the functioning of Hospital and allied property. Installs, troubleshoots and repairs complex mechanical equipment and distribution systems, involving work of varied nature with minimum supervision. Observes and enforces safety regulations and practices and maintains safety and fire equipment.

Responsibilities

• Install, troubleshoot and repair complex mechanical equipment and distribution systems
• Observe and enforce safety regulations and practices
• Maintain safety and fire equipment
• Read and follow blueprints and MSDS information
• Operate METASYS Energy Management System and other software applications

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Four years related work experience
• General knowledge of personal computer use and ability to learn operation software applications, including METASYS Energy Management System
• Knowledgeable of standards and codes applicable to health care facilities
• Thoroughly familiar with tools and methods of trade
• Knowledgeable of Life Safety code, NFDA and ADA requirements and specifications

Qualifications

• Completion of an approved and accredited trade school course, or trade apprenticeship program in plant operations and maintenance preferred
• Certified or licensed in plumbing, pipefitting, welding or boilers preferred
