About the role

Performs general maintenance as directed and as necessary on all aspects of building structure and systems, including floors, walls, ceilings, lighting, HVAC, transportation systems, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and other items. Refrigerant Recovery certification (Type I and Type II preferred; Universal preferred). Training provided during 2nd shift (2:30 PM–11:00 PM) and/or 1st shift (7:00 AM–3:30 PM). Primary responsibilities include responding to elevator, tube station, and fire alarm trouble calls. Qualified external candidates are eligible for a $5,000 sign-on bonus as part of the offer package. This position is designated as Mission Essential Personnel.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Valid Driver’s License (VA or NC)
  • At least one full year of general maintenance experience

About the facility

Sentara Norfolk General Hospital, located in Norfolk, VA, is a 525-bed tertiary care facility that is home to the only Level I Adult Trauma Center and burn trauma unit in Hampton Roads, and also serves as the primary teaching hospital for Eastern Virginia Medical School. The hospital specializes in heart and vascular, neurosciences, neurosurgery, urology, oncology, spine care, advanced imaging, behavioral health, maternity, and women’s health, including a state-of-the-art neonatal intensive care unit. It is a recognized accredited Comprehensive Stroke Center and Magnet hospital for nursing excellence.
