Contract to Hire position based in Holland, MI.

About the role

The General Contractor Estimator supports preconstruction and estimating efforts for commercial construction projects, preparing detailed cost estimates, and performing quantity takeoffs. This role contributes to both negotiated and hard-bid pursuits, ensures accurate and competitive pricing, and helps identify value engineering opportunities that enhance project value and constructability. Eventually, this person will have the opportunity to support projects in the field, providing variety in day-to-day responsibilities and exposure to both office and project environments.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare detailed cost estimates for commercial construction projects.
  • Perform quantity takeoffs from construction drawings and specifications.
  • Support preconstruction efforts for both negotiated and hard-bid pursuits.
  • Ensure accurate and competitive pricing for projects.
  • Identify value engineering opportunities to enhance project value and constructability.
  • Communicate estimates, assumptions, and value engineering ideas to owners and internal teams.
  • Leverage and maintain historical cost databases.
  • Gain field experience on active projects to complement office-based estimating responsibilities.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of estimating, project engineering, or preconstruction experience in commercial construction.
  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Architecture, or related field.
  • Knowledge of commercial construction methods, materials, and building systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.

Skills

  • Experience with Sage Estimating, Procore, BuildinConnected, Bluebeam, or similar construction and estimating platforms (nice to have).
  • Experience with design-build construction delivery methods (nice to have).
  • Strong presentation and communication skills (written and verbal) to support meetings, presentations, and coordination with stakeholders.

Pay

$36.06 - $43.27/hr.
