ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- High Dusting: Using a treated high duster, clean surfaces above shoulder height in a counter-clockwise direction.
- Cleaning the High Duster: Gently brush the duster into a service cart.
- Sanitizing/Spot Cleaning: Use a germicidal solution to clean surfaces below shoulder height, including ledges, chairs, telephones, countertops, and trashcans.
- Using Proper Solution: Remove fingerprints and smudges from doorknobs and walls, and spot clean windows.
- Bathroom Cleaning: Apply germicidal solution to wipe down surfaces in the following order: above and below sink, toilet seat, and inside the toilet bowl. Check and refill soap and paper dispensers daily.
- Emptying Trash Cans: Remove liners and wipe trash cans if they contain liquid. Dispose of waste and replace liners.
- Floor Dusting/Vacuuming: Dust mop using an "S" stroke, starting at the back of the room and working toward the door. Vacuum under furniture and behind doors.
- Outside Grounds Care: Empty and clean ash urns and trash cans. Police sidewalks, flower beds, and curb line for trash and cigarette butts. Spot clean spills and remove gum with a scraper. Wipe benches, vending machines, and lower window ledges. Clean public area glass as necessary.
- Food Court: Clean and sanitize tables, remove trash, and stack clean trays for recycled use. Police outside eating areas.
- Floor Sanitizing: Use a germicidal solution to sanitize the floor, starting at the back of the room and mopping under furniture and behind doors.
- Customer Relations and Service: Knock lightly on doors before entering, be friendly and courteous, answer questions helpfully, and report broken or out-of-order items to supervisors. Speak quietly and stay in assigned work area unless directed otherwise.
- Other Duties: Perform additional tasks as assigned or directed by supervisor, such as floor care, carpet extraction and bonneting, auto scrub and buffing of floors, and other janitorial tasks.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Knowledge of basic janitorial operations, methods, materials, and equipment.
- Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
- Effective communication skills with co-workers and supervisors.
- Operate powered and non-powered janitorial equipment.
- Interpret written instructions and warning labels on cleaning chemicals.
- Maintain physical condition suitable for assigned duties, including walking, standing, sitting, lifting/carrying, pushing/pulling, climbing, bending/twisting/balancing, kneeling/crouching/crawling, reaching, handling, grasping, and fingering.
- Requires sight, depth perception, hand-eye coordination, and overhead reaching.
