ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • High Dusting: Using a treated high duster, clean surfaces above shoulder height in a counter-clockwise direction.
  • Cleaning the High Duster: Gently brush the duster into a service cart.
  • Sanitizing/Spot Cleaning: Use a germicidal solution to clean surfaces below shoulder height, including ledges, chairs, telephones, countertops, and trashcans.
  • Using proper solutions to remove fingerprints and smudges from doorknobs and walls, and spot clean windows.
  • Bathroom Cleaning: Apply germicidal solution to wipe down surfaces in the following order: above and below sink, toilet seat, and outside of the toilet bowl. Clean the inside of the toilet with a Johnnie Mop and solution, paying attention to the rim. Check and refill soap and paper dispensers daily.
  • Emptying and Cleaning Trash Cans: Remove liners and wipe trash cans if they contain liquid. Dispose of waste and replace liners.
  • Floor Dusting/Vacuuming: Use a dust mophead to dust under furniture and in restrooms, starting at the back of the room and working toward the door. Use a counter brush to clean the mophead and sweep up dust onto a dustpan.
  • Vacuuming: Start at the back of the room and work toward the door, ensuring to get under chairs and other furniture.
  • Inspection: Mentally review cleaning steps and visually check furniture placement after completing a room.
  • Outside Areas: Empty and clean ash urns and trash cans. Police sidewalks, flower beds, and curb line for trash and cigarette butts. Spot clean spills on sidewalks, remove gum with a scraper, and wipe benches, vending machines, and lower window ledges.
  • Food Court: Clean, remove trash, and sanitize tables. Place chairs back under tables. Spot clean for spills. Empty and clean trash cans. Remove accumulated dirty trays to wash rooms and clean using a tray power washer. Stack clean trays on a shelf for recycled use. Police outside eating areas.
  • Floor Sanitizing: Use a germicidal solution to sanitize the floor, starting at the back of the room and mopping under furniture and behind doors as you back out of the room.
  • Customer Relations and Service: Knock lightly on doors before entering, be friendly and cheerful, answer questions helpfully, and report anything broken or out of order to a supervisor. Speak quietly and stay in assigned work area unless directed otherwise.
  • Other Duties: Perform tasks such as floor care (stripping and waxing floors), carpet extraction and bonneting, auto scrub and buffing of floors, and other duties as assigned or directed by supervisor.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Knowledge of basic janitorial operations, methods, materials, and equipment.
  • Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
  • Effective communication with co-workers and supervisors.
  • Operate powered and non-powered janitorial equipment.
  • Interpret written instructions and warning labels on cleaning chemicals.
  • Maintain physical condition suitable for assigned duties, including walking, standing, sitting, lifting/carrying, operating equipment, reaching, handling, grasping, and operating cleaning equipment.
  • Perform tasks requiring sight, depth perception, hand-eye coordination, and overhead reaching.
