General Anesthesiologist, Clinical Assistant Professor (HS)
Job Summary
The Department of Anesthesiology at SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University is seeking a General Anesthesiologist to join our academic anesthesiology faculty as a Clinical Assistant Professor (HS).
Salary Range
Commensurate with experience and qualifications
$500,000 total annual salary (W-2). Optional additional call opportunities compensated at premium hourly rates, separate from base salary:
Weekday call: $150/hour
Friday call: $175/hour
Saturday call: $175/hour
Sunday call: $150/hour

Call Responsibilities
4-call/grid requirement (approximately one call per week).Call begins at 3:00 PM.Coverage includes main OR and obstetrical suite with support from three residents.Occasional urgent or emergent cases.
Clinical Responsibilities
- Administer anesthesia in the main operating room, ambulatory surgery center, and obstetrical suite, utilizing general, regional, and sedation techniques.
- Provide anesthesia care for a broad range of cases, including general surgery, orthopedics, vascular, robotics (general surgery, GU, GYN), and renal transplant.
- Serve as a mentor and supervisor for residents and medical students.
- Participate in clinical teaching and evaluation of residents and students in accordance with departmental standards.
- Contribute to departmental administrative responsibilities.
Academic Responsibilities
- Participate in clinical teaching and supervision of residents and medical students.
- Provide classroom instruction and evaluate residents and students in accordance with departmental standards.
- Mentor trainees in research and scholarly activities.
- Contribute to departmental administrative responsibilities.
