Job Description

The Department of Anesthesiology, Perioperative Medicine, and Pain Management at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine (UMMSOM) is seeking exceptional candidates to join the faculty. Employment Requirements

  • Completed a US-approved residency in Anesthesiology or equivalent training and certification in Anesthesiology.
  • Board Eligibility or Certification in Anesthesiology is required.
  • (Equivalence to board certification can be determined on a case-by-case basis).
  • Research experience is not required but is highly desirable.

Job Description

Candidates should feel comfortable performing various cases, including orthopedics, GYN, community OB, abdominal cases, general vascular, and kidney transplants. They are NOT required to perform cardiac cases or treat small children (

  • Limited skills in regional anesthesia and the ability to anesthetize older children are helpful.
  • Comfortable supervising residents, CRNAs, and SRNAs.
  • Comfortable performing cases on their own if required.
  • Participating in the department's academic activities, including teaching and mentoring trainees and participating in departmental conferences and faculty meetings.

Call Schedule

  • Expected to be 3-4 overnight calls per month (some calls may be from home).
  • May also require evening and weekend calls.
  • The effort distribution may change based on department needs, candidate’s interests, and success in obtaining extramural grant funding.
