Responsibilities
- Evaluate and manage gastroenterology patients in an outpatient clinic setting.
- Perform comprehensive histories and physical examinations.
- Order and interpret appropriate diagnostic testing.
- Manage medications according to established clinical guidelines.
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans.
- Educate patients regarding treatment options, lifestyle modifications, and ongoing care.
- Manage approximately 16 scheduled outpatient patients per day.
- Provide GI consultation and follow-up care for hospitalized patients.
- Manage approximately 10-15 inpatient consults and 10 follow-ups per day.
- Evaluate and manage a variety of GI conditions, including:
- GI bleeding
- Cirrhosis
- IBD flares
- Abdominal pain
- Food impactions
- Foreign body ingestion
- Severe diarrhea
- Other acute gastroenterology conditions
- Assess patients and determine appropriate medical, endoscopic, surgical, or lifestyle interventions.
- Work collaboratively with physicians and other healthcare professionals.
Requirements
- Current Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) certification/licensure.
- Prior Gastroenterology experience is required.
- Strong clinical assessment and decision-making skills.
- Experience managing both outpatient and inpatient GI patients preferred.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with physicians and multidisciplinary teams.
- Strong interest in providing high-quality, patient-centered gastroenterology care.

About the Opportunity
This role is ideal for an experienced GI NP or PA who wants to combine outpatient continuity of care with inpatient gastroenterology consults without the burden of routine call, holidays, or after-hours coverage.
You'll work alongside an experienced physician and APP team with opportunities to expand your procedural skills while maintaining a predictable four-day daytime schedule.
