About the role
Responsible for servicing and building relationships with guests, paying hand-pay jackpots, and performing minor repairs on Historical Horse Racing (HHR) machines.
Pay: $11 per hour plus tips
Schedule: 11pm to 8am
Responsibilities
- Ensure all department paperwork and data entry is completed accurately, including jackpot slips, tax documents, and guest claim forms with required signatures.
- Maintain electronic components, systems, and peripherals of HHR machines; perform preventative maintenance during downtime.
- Maintain confidentiality of privileged information in accordance with company policy and state regulations.
- Know all HHR machines on the gaming floor and determine proper payouts.
- Protect company assets by adhering to company policies and state/regulatory compliance, including Internal Controls, Responsible Gaming Plan, and Title 31.
- Ensure gaming devices operate properly; call for technical or supervisory assistance when necessary.
- Promote player card usage on the gaming floor.
- Maintain paper levels in terminals for optimal play.
- Read gaming floor glass and pay table information; recall vital game histories.
- Notify shift supervisor of irregularities in guests’ play.
- Ensure HHR machines are functioning and available for guest play.
- Maintain knowledge of Virginia Racing Commission rules and regulations.
- Adhere to all safety protocols and procedures as outlined in company policies.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Six months experience in a related field preferred; other combinations of education and experience may be considered.
- Must obtain and maintain a valid racing license.
Skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent guest service skills in a high-volume environment, preferred.
- Knowledge of gaming operations, rules, and regulations, preferred.
Physical Requirements & Working Conditions
- Stand and walk for the duration of the shift.
- Frequently required to use hands, reach, handle objects, climb, balance, bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
- May be required to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Work long hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Moderate to loud noise levels; work environment may include crowds, flashing lights, and secondhand smoke depending on assigned station and guest volume.
