Game On Turf Manufacturing Supervisor - 2nd shift

As a Turf Continuous Line Supervisor, you will help produce high-performance turf systems trusted by major professional and collegiate programs—including teams like the Baltimore Ravens, Arizona Diamondbacks, and Miami Marlins. This role involves leading associates, overseeing continuous line operations, and ensuring all products meet Shaw’s rigorous quality standards, which include more than 450 performance tests for every field manufactured. Responsibilities
- Supervise a group of associates on a continuous line operation that tufts and coats synthetic turf fields.
- Monitor associates and equipment across all gantries to ensure correct tufting, coating, and pattern adherence.
- Act as a liaison between the Department Manager and employees, facilitating effective communication within the department.
- Ensure execution of Safety Management System (SMS) procedures.
- Oversee departmental production, quality, processes, and procedures, ensuring compliance with SMS guidelines.
- Maintain and repair department machinery and equipment as needed.
- Support and follow environmental procedures and programs.
- Assist in production planning, including ordering yarn and setting up test procedures for mixed lots.
- Complete paperwork to monitor and record departmental productivity, quality, and performance.
- Attend and/or conduct periodic departmental meetings.
- Perform or delegate various departmental tasks as needed, using SMS documentation.
- Assist employees in resolving job-related problems or concerns.
- Troubleshoot quality issues, identify root causes, and correct them if possible; escalate to the Department Manager or Process Engineer if unresolved.
- Communicate quality or mechanical concerns to the oncoming shift supervisor.
Non-Essential Duties
- Perform additional tasks as assigned by the Department Manager.
- Work flexible schedules as needed.
- Assist R&D with samples and TPRs (Test Production Runs).
- Follow procedures for employees returning from leave of absence (LOA) or layoff.
- Support housekeeping improvements.
- Participate in committees and task forces.
- Assist with yarn and backing inventories during shutdowns.
- Ensure machines and lights are powered down at shutdown.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Prior supervisory or leadership experience required.
- Computer proficiency.
- Carpet manufacturing experience and ability to identify defects.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to sit or stand for 8+ hours.
- Ability to climb steps and walk the plant multiple times daily.
- Able to work in varying temperatures and humidity.
