Responsibilities
- Lead daily departmental operations to achieve established safety, quality, productivity, attendance, scrap, inventory, and on-time delivery goals.
- Establish daily production priorities, communicate expectations to Team Leads and employees, and coordinate labor resources to meet production requirements.
- Monitor production performance throughout the shift and implement corrective actions as necessary to achieve departmental objectives.
- Own departmental safety performance by ensuring compliance with all company safety policies, addressing hazards, reporting incidents, and promoting a proactive safety culture.
- Monitor departmental performance, identify operational issues, and implement corrective actions through root cause analysis and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Cook up manufacturing activities and priorities with plant leadership and other departments to support business objectives.
- Inspect materials, products, and equipment to identify quality concerns, defects, or equipment malfunctions and ensure appropriate corrective action is taken.
- Observe work processes to ensure compliance with established production standards, quality requirements, and company procedures.
- Support onboarding, training, and cross-training efforts with Team Leads to ensure workforce flexibility, employee development, and operational continuity.
- Develop Team Leads and employees through coaching, mentoring, accountability, and performance feedback.
- Monitor employee attendance and manage daily labor allocation to ensure production schedules and departmental objectives are achieved.
- Maintain workplace organization, cleanliness, visual management, and safety standards in accordance with 5S+1 principles (Sort, Set in Order, Shine, Standardize, Sustain, and Safety).
- Promote a culture of accountability, teamwork, respect, and engagement while addressing employee concerns and maintaining positive employee relations.
- Develop and hold employees accountable through regular coaching, performance evaluations, attendance management, and corrective action when necessary.
- Participate in leadership meetings to review operational performance and address safety, quality, labor, and production challenges.
- Lead by example and demonstrate the behaviors, professionalism, and work ethic expected of all employees.
Qualifications
- A High School Diploma or GED required.
- Minimum of five (5) years of progressive manufacturing experience; prior leadership, Team Lead, or supervisory experience preferred.
- Leverage Lean Manufacturing and/or Six Sigma experience preferred.
- Ability to motivate, develop, coach, and direct employees in a manufacturing environment.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, organizational, and decision-making skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to effectively lead a diverse workforce and foster a positive team environment.
- Ability to prioritize work, manage multiple responsibilities, and delegate effectively.
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes, equipment, power tools, and safe work practices.
- Ability to understand, interpret, and enforce company policies, procedures, and work standards.
- Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office and timekeeping or manufacturing software systems.
- Demonstrated reliability, professionalism, and dependability.
