Fun Respite Provider

Are you a teacher, high schooler, college student, or paraprofessional looking for a side job that can bring in extra income? A family in the Appleton area is seeking a long-term childcare provider for their 9-year-old daughter who has ADHD, Anxiety, OCD, ODD, and depression. The role involves engaging the child in fun activities while providing support and supervision.

About the Role

This is a flexible position offering 20 to 40 hours per week, with a focus on work-life balance. Hours include after-school help, summer assistance, evenings, and weekends. While there is no set schedule, the family is open to discussing a structured arrangement if needed.

Responsibilities

• Keep the family informed about daily activities
• Ensure the child’s safety and supervision at all times
• Engage in fun activities with the child at home or in the community
• Provide transportation and after-school pickup as needed
• Act as an emotional support person for the child
• Use de-escalation tactics when necessary
• Assist with homework, snack/dinner preparation, and mentoring personal care tasks (e.g., brushing teeth, showering, applying deodorant)
• Help the child maintain a clean space

Requirements

• Valid driver’s license and a reliable vehicle
• Ability to pass a Wisconsin background check
• Experience working with children or adults with complex needs (e.g., mental health conditions, developmental disabilities, autism, ADHD, ODD)
• Proven dependability and commitment to providing care for children with special needs
• Understanding of de-escalation techniques

Pay

$17.97 per hour, plus mileage reimbursement when transporting the child.
