Full Time Welcome Center Associate(2nd & 3rd shifts)
Kalamazoo Gospel Ministries is a privately funded 501(c)3 non-profit, evangelical Christian ministry dedicated to sharing the Gospel and helping the homeless and impoverished. Every position is essential to fulfilling our ministry and statement of purpose, and each employee must have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ as their Savior and Lord.
About the role
The Main Entry Desk and Office is the first point of contact for visitors entering Kalamazoo Gospel Ministries. This role reflects the professionalism, kindness, and love of Christ to all who enter or call. Staff at the front desk greet visitors, direct them to appropriate departments, and perform various administrative duties under the direction of the Front Desk Manager and VP of Administration. The front desk must be staffed at all times unless briefly stepping away.
Responsibilities
- Uphold, promote, and encourage KGM’s organizational culture and values, fostering a grace-based environment that advances the ministry’s vision and purpose.
- Oversee all front desk activities during assigned shifts, ensuring a peaceful and orderly office.
- Answer and direct all incoming telephone calls to the proper departments.
- Receive and announce visitors and volunteers to designated team members.
- Collaborate with front desk team members to ensure adherence to policies and procedures for the main entrance.
- Train and develop front desk team members in administrative performance.
- Order cleaning supplies weekly using the Maintenance Supply Form and complete purchase orders for office supplies as needed.
- Maintain a clean and organized front office.
- Assist with community service and volunteers by scanning workers in and out and processing Mission ID cards.
- Receive mail from the carrier, bundle donations with a team member present, date bundles, and secure them in a lock box; sort remaining mail into mailboxes.
- Receive monetary donations or new items at the front entrance window; direct other household donations to the appropriate drop-off and kitchen donations to the Food Service Department.
- Perform general clerical duties, including photocopying, faxing, mailing, and filing.
- Maintain all administrative documents.

- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and accuracy in preparing and entering information.
- Ability to handle difficult visitors with firm grace and love, representing Christ and the ministry in all interactions.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and telephone protocol.
- Personal relationship with Jesus Christ and a desire to serve Him.
- Consistent witness for Jesus Christ and spiritual maturity as defined by evangelical biblical standards.
- Compassion and passion for ministering life transformation in an urban setting.
- Courteous and Christ-like manner with internal and external partners.

Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Administrative or office experience.
Schedule
A mix of 2nd shift (3:30 PM – 11:30 PM) and 3rd shift (11:30 PM – 7:30 AM).
Working Conditions
- Predominantly office-based work environment.
- Equipment used: computer, phone, fax/copier, laminator, metered mail machine.
