About the role
As a Porter in our iconic venues, you'll play a crucial role in maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for our guests. You'll perform deep cleaning duties, sanitize restrooms and common areas, remove trash, and maintain the facility's appearance across all public and back-of-house spaces, at times working independently through the night to restore the venue after operating hours.
Responsibilities
- Perform deep cleaning duties, sanitize restrooms and common areas, remove trash, and maintain the facility's appearance across all public and back-of-house spaces.
- Sweep and mop guest-facing areas, including elevators and stairs.
- Clean and service restrooms. Sanitize fixtures, restock supplies, sweep and mop floors, empty trashcans, and replace liners.
- Remove dust, smudges, and fingerprints from surfaces. Wipe windows, ledges, walls, doors, elevators, stairs, and other surfaces.
- Empty trash receptacles and move waste to disposal areas.
- Replenish supplies like toilet paper, soap, paper towels, and kitchen items.
- Maintain organization of chemical room. Stock cleaning carts and ensure all chemicals are properly labeled.
- Inform management when supplies and equipment need to be ordered.
- Perform overnight deep cleaning tasks FOH and BOH, including carpet shampooing, floor waxing, etc.
- Assist with event setup and breakdown of tables, chairs, and seating configurations.
- Communicate with supervisor and venue leadership regarding questions or concerns immediately.
- Comply with all company issued steps of service. Follow all corporate policies, safety and security procedures, and brand SOPs. Promptly report accidents, facility issues, or unsafe conditions to management.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Effective communication skills
- Proper sanitation knowledge
- Operation of garbage compactor/disposal preferred
- Demonstrated team player and self-starter
- Able to follow directions
- Able to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, to support business needs
Physical Requirements
- Speak and hear to communicate and use both near and far vision.
- Stand and walk for extended periods, including on uneven surfaces and while carrying items.
- May repeatedly traverse stairs and walk on uneven terrain.
- Regularly lift and carry up to and over 50 lbs., and frequently sit, kneel, bend, and reach.
- Continual use of manual dexterity and gross motor skills with frequent use of bi-manual dexery and fine motor skills.
- Working Conditions: Restaurant/bar/live music environments subject to both kitchen and customer areas, with large crowds and elevated noise levels.
