FULL-TIME POLICE & FIRE DISPATCH

Civil Service competitive examination for a full-time Police & Fire Dispatch position in Macedonia, Ohio. Applications must be completed, notarized, and submitted by 2:00pm on Thursday, October 8, 2026. Falsification of any part of an application will result in immediate disqualification.

Responsibilities

• Operate radio and handle emergency (911) and non-emergency calls for police, fire, and rescue services for Macedonia and several other communities
• Perform computer data entry (CAD)
• Work shifts, weekends, and holidays

Pay

• Hourly rate: $29.84–$36.14 (subject to collective bargaining agreement, depending on prior comparable police & fire dispatch experience)
• Shift differential: $1.00 for 2pm–10pm, $1.50 for 10pm–6am
• Multi-jurisdictional bonus: $2,000
• Uniform allowance

Requirements

• Must be willing to work shifts, weekends, and holidays
• Must be a non-smoker and remain a non-smoker for the duration of employment
• Must pass psychological and polygraph tests, drug screening (including periodic drug screening during employment), background check, and personal interview
• Photo ID required for written exam

Qualifications

• Written exam: Thursday, October 22, 2026 at 6:30pm, Macedonia City Center, Fire Department Training Room (lower level)
• Additional credit with a passing grade of 70%:
  • 5 points for a minimum of one-year police & fire dispatching experience
  • 5 points for military service (must provide DD 214 stating honorable discharge on or before the date of the written exam)
