Part-Time Police Dispatcher

About the role

Auburn University at Montgomery Campus Police Department is hiring a part-time Police Dispatcher. This position is designated as a Campus Security Authority (CSA) under the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act (Clery Act). As a CSA, the employee has a duty to report crimes observed or reported to them to ensure campus safety and wellness.

Responsibilities

• Receive, relay, and/or transmit routine and emergency calls to police, fire, and other public agencies.
• Maintain logs of radio transmissions, telephone calls, and other information.
• Maintain incident reports of criminal activity or complaints; assist in ticket administration.
• Monitor fire alarm system.
• Issue parking decals.

Requirements

• Education equivalent to completion of high school.

Skills

• Knowledge of radio 10-codes and appropriate radio communication guidelines.
• Knowledge of law enforcement jargon.
• Knowledge of AUM Police Department procedures and policies.
• Ability to operate communications equipment.
• Ability to write and maintain reports.
• Ability to communicate with other public agencies.
• Ability to respond to multiple competing demands.
• Ability to speak clearly and provide clear and concise instructions to others.
