Full-Time Patient Observer

About the role

The Security Officer maintains a safe and secure hospital environment by actively monitoring patients, controlling access, and supporting hospital staff. The role emphasizes safety, dignity, professionalism, behavioral de‑escalation, and strong observational skills.

Responsibilities

• Continuously observe and monitor patients and the environment for safety
• Control access and screen visitors
• Identify and remove hazards
• Respond to emergencies such as fires, medical incidents, or other security events
• Ensure compliance with hospital policies and procedures
• Document incidents accurately and maintain reports
• Interact courteously with staff, patients, and visitors
• Conduct regular patrols of premises and inspect grounds
• Secure scenes and assist with behavioral escalations
• Support staff in enforcing safety protocols
• Manage property safety and address disturbances

Qualifications & Skills

• Strong observational, communication, and de‑escalation abilities
• Ability to work calmly under pressure and collaborate with clinical teams
• Reliable transportation and communication methods
• Legal right to work and effective English skills
• High school diploma or equivalent; security or healthcare experience preferred
