About the Role
The Director of Nursing (RN) oversees the entire Nursing Department in a skilled nursing facility, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local standards to provide high-quality resident care. This role involves organizing, developing, and directing nursing operations, including staffing, education, infection prevention, and wound management.
This role fosters a collaborative environment committed to providing exceptional resident care and ensuring regulatory compliance.
Responsibilities
- Supervise and evaluate nursing personnel, ensuring adherence to safety and practice standards.
- Coordinate specialized programs such as Infection Control and Wound Care.
- Assist in developing individualized care plans in collaboration with residents, families, and the interdisciplinary team.
- In emergency situations, may assume unit manager or charge nurse duties.
- Provide training and ongoing education for nursing staff, addressing re-education needs.
- Ensure compliance with regulations, standards, and quality care delivery.
- Manage Nursing Department operations and staff.
- Lead staff training and development.
- Support emergency and clinical responsibilities as needed.
Requirements
- Current NY RN license in good standing.
- BSN preferred or minimum five years of supervisory experience.
- Supervisory experience in long-term or skilled nursing settings preferred.
- Wound Care Certification and SigmaCare experience a plus.
Skills
- Strong communication, organization, and customer service skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
- Ability to work under pressure and adapt.
- Ability to work well with residents, families, and multidisciplinary teams.
