Full Time Lecturer - Industrial Engineering (AY 27/28)

About the role

The Industrial & Manufacturing Engineering Department at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo seeks a full‑time lecturer for a two‑year appointment covering AY 27/28 and AY 28/29, with a possible one‑year extension to AY 29/30 contingent on budget, department need, and satisfactory performance. The lecturer will deliver high‑quality instruction in core and elective industrial engineering courses within a laboratory‑intensive, hands‑on curriculum.

Responsibilities

• Teach core and elective industrial engineering courses.
• Deliver laboratory‑intensive, hands‑on instruction.
• Implement student‑centered learning approaches.
• Collaborate effectively in multidisciplinary settings.
• Contribute to departmental service and curriculum development as needed.

Qualifications

• Required: Master’s degree in industrial engineering, operations research, or a closely related field.
• Required: Demonstrated experience and commitment to student‑centered learning and teaching.
• Required: Ability to work collaboratively in multidisciplinary environments.
• Required: Proficiency in written and oral English.
• Preferred: Ph.D. in industrial engineering, operations research, or related major.
• Preferred: Experience working with diverse populations and fostering an inclusive, supportive environment.
• Preferred: Prior university‑level teaching experience and/or student‑centered learning practice.
• Preferred: Relevant professional work experience or specialized capabilities that enhance instruction.

Pay

Lecturer salaries are based on rank and experience. As of July 2024 the applicable ranges are:

• Lecturer A: $5,507 – $6,677 per month
• Lecturer B: $6,221 – $13,224 per month
• Lecturer C: $6,825 – $14,523 per month
• Lecturer D: $8,593 – $15,211 per month
