About the role
Serving as a charge nurse to ensure safe, therapeutic patient care and a well-managed environment.
Responsibilities
- Provide front-line leadership and clinical decision-making for staff
- Develop staffing plans based on patient acuity and oversee daily operations
- Monitor workflow and adjust staffing to meet fiscal goals
- Coordinate patient flow, admissions, and discharges efficiently
- Support department and organizational objectives such as patient experience, length of stay, and quality metrics
- Participate in process improvement initiatives and peer evaluations
- Assist with investigations and other assigned duties
Qualifications
- BSN from an accredited nursing program
- Charge nurse training and competency completion within 90 days if externally hired
- Current RN license in the state or a compact license
- Clinical certifications (BLS, ACLS, PALS, NRP) aligned with clinical area requirements
- Advanced specialty certification or willingness to obtain within 2 years (e.g., CCRN, CEN, RNC)
