About the Role
The FSQA Technician provides guidance and leadership to production personnel regarding food safety measures and practices. Ensures all customer concerns and complaints are handled with professionalism and care. Applies available tools and resources to meet food specifications and production requirements.
Responsibilities
- Provide daily monitoring of the facility and personnel to ensure compliance with the food safety system; perform formal audits on GMPs.
- Train facility personnel on GMPs, risk preventive controls, hazard analysis, pre-requisite programs, and other food safety elements.
- Conduct pre-operational inspections and collect and analyze product samples; document analytical results.
- Maintain records of all facility analytical results; report out-of-specification results to the QA supervisor immediately.
- Provide documented reports of analytical results and track data trends for the QA supervisor.
- Inspect incoming raw materials; assist in investigating non-conformance and product complaints.
- Lead facility team in performing self-audits and host visitors, including regulatory and customer representatives, as well as third-party auditors.
- Ensure product processing aligns with the company’s HACCP/HARPC programs.
- Inform Quality Assurance Management of any food safety concerns and implement corrective actions.
- Assist in creating, reviewing, and maintaining food safety system documents, including SOPs and programs.
- Demonstrate innovation, resourcefulness, and a proactive approach to continuous improvement.
- Prioritize tasks and meet deadlines while adhering to health, safety, and cleanliness standards.
- Maintain excellent attendance and punctuality.
- Utilize soft skills to foster positive relationships with customers and production personnel.
Requirements
- High School Diploma/GED required.
- Computer skills, including basic Microsoft Excel.
- Analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Strong organizational and multitasking skills.
- Basic mental math proficiency.
- Ability to work effectively in a team and communicate in English.
- Ability to balance productivity, quality, and safety in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior quality assurance experience, particularly in food manufacturing.
- Knowledge of FDA regulations and GMPs.
- Experience performing administrative work, including paperwork reconciliation.
Working Conditions
- Primarily static role with standing; requires repetitive bending and lifting (10-35 lbs regularly, up to 45 lbs occasionally).
- Ability to push/pull up to 250 lbs on rollers occasionally.
- Works in a wet, cold/refrigerated environment (~35°F) within a manufacturing, warehousing, and production facility.
- Must withstand cold temperatures for the duration of the shift.
- Exposure to allergenic food ingredients (e.g., FDA-referenced allergens) may occur; inform manager of any food allergies.
