Front Office Supervisor - Sheraton
About the role
As Front Office Supervisor at the Sheraton Duluth Hotel, you will oversee the overall operation of the Front Desk, ensuring seamless guest experiences and adherence to brand standards. This role involves leading by example, coaching team members, and acting as the first management contact for guest issues. The hotel is owned by Sherman Associates and franchised by Marriott International, Inc.
Responsibilities
- Ensure all guests are welcomed and served efficiently and courteously, executing brand standards during check-in and check-out.
- Maintain readily available Front Desk supplies to best serve guests.
- Act as the first management contact for guest complaints or issues.
- Ensure compliance with Front Office quality standards, policies, and procedures.
- Oversee financial transactions to ensure they are completed properly within established guidelines.
- Prepare, manage, and oversee daily and nightly sales operations.
- Coordinate hotel operations with other departments to enhance communication and guest satisfaction.
- Strive to exceed guest expectations at every opportunity while "owning" desk operations.
- Act as Manager on Duty and supervise operations.
- Complete other assigned duties and work collaboratively with internal and external customers.
- Communicate effectively both verbally and in writing, practicing active listening and professional responsiveness.
- Adhere to Sherman Associates' attendance policy, grooming and appearance standards, and department procedures.
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment, follow incident procedures, and be knowledgeable about hotel emergency protocols.
- Attend all required department and hotel meetings.
- Exhibit leadership qualities, including mentoring and training staff, and assisting management with prioritizing and coordinating work duties.
Requirements
- 1-2 years of experience in a hospitality-related environment, with at least 1 year of supervisory experience.
- High School diploma or equivalent education required.
- Ability to communicate effectively and follow directions in a multi-lingual environment.
- Knowledge of computer accounting programs, math skills, and budgetary analysis capabilities.
- Extensive knowledge of the hotel, its services, and facilities.
- Passion for the mission, vision, and values of Sherman Associates.
- Schedule flexibility due to the specific needs of the hotel.

Schedule
Full-time availability required, including both weekdays and weekends. Shifts are 7 am – 3 pm and 3 pm – 11 pm.
Work Environment
This role operates in a professional office environment within the hotel. Routine use of standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, and filing cabinets is required. The position involves standing at a desk for up to 8 hours per day, with additional walking and standing throughout the workday. Tasks may vary daily.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand, walk, and move freely throughout the property and office.
- Occasional lifting of over 50 lbs.
- Requires grasping, writing, standing, sitting, walking, repetitive motions, bending, climbing, listening, hearing, and visual acuity.
Additional Screening Requirements
- Current and valid driver’s license required.
- Must pass a Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) check and maintain a safe driving record.
- Successful completion of a pre-employment strength test or CRT examination.
- Must meet criminal background screening requirements, including MN statute 299C.67 to 299C.71 (Kari Koskinen Background).
Pay
Pay range: $19–20 per hour.
