Responsibilities

  • Case Management: Monitor case progress, track key developments, and ensure claims move forward efficiently. Oversee the status of workers' compensation claims, including medical treatment updates, wage loss documentation, and settlement negotiations. Identify and address any delays or roadblocks in case progression.
  • Organizing Case Documents: Maintain and manage all case-related records, ensuring that medical records, legal documents, and correspondence are well-organized, up-to-date, and easily accessible.
  • Client Communication & Support: Serve as a key point of contact for clients, keeping them informed about their case status, answering inquiries, and guiding them through the workers’ compensation process with professionalism and empathy.
  • Liaison & Coordination: Act as a bridge between clients, attorneys, medical providers, insurance companies, and other key stakeholders, ensuring seamless communication and collaboration throughout the case lifecycle.
  • Legal Document Preparation & Filing: Draft and prepare legal documents, including pleadings, motions, and correspondence. File legal documents with the appropriate court or administrative agency, ensuring compliance with deadlines and procedural requirements.
  • Hearing & Trial Preparation: Assist attorneys in preparing for hearings and trials by compiling exhibits, organizing case materials, and ensuring all necessary evidence is properly formatted and ready for presentation in court.
  • Calendar & Deadline Management: Maintain and oversee case calendars, ensuring all important dates are scheduled, tracked, and met. Coordinate with attorneys and relevant parties to avoid scheduling conflicts and ensure compliance with all legal timeframes.

Requirements

  • Experience: A minimum of 2-3 years as a paralegal, with direct experience handling workers' compensation cases.
  • Workers' Compensation Knowledge: Strong understanding of workers' compensation statutes, rules, and regulations, including case procedures and legal requirements.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in case management software, Microsoft Office Suite, and familiarity with legal research tools.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication abilities, with a strong emphasis on client interaction and support.
  • Organizational Skills: Exceptional attention to detail, ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously, and strong time-management skills.
  • Team Collaboration: Ability to work effectively within a team-oriented environment, demonstrating flexibility and adaptability.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Paralegal certification preferred but not required.

Skills

  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and case management software.
  • Knowledge of workers' compensation laws and regulations.
