About the role
The Draftsman, Charlottesville, University, Autograph Collection Hotel is a pet-friendly, upscale boutique hotel located on West Main Street, steps from the University of Virginia and the UVA Medical Center. The hotel features 150 well-appointed guestrooms, over 2,300 sq. ft of meeting space, and a rooftop fitness center. It celebrates the spirit of Virginia’s original voices and the legacy of Presidents Madison, Monroe, and Jefferson, blending history with modern amenities. Employees work in a dynamic environment that honors the past while delivering contemporary hospitality experiences.
Responsibilities
- Check guests in and out of the hotel according to hotel and/or brand standards.
- Inform guests about the hotel’s facilities, policies, and procedures.
- Provide tourist information to guests.
- Handle hotel phone system, transfer calls to appropriate departments or guests, and accurately take messages.
- Take, modify, and cancel guestroom reservations.
- Deal with inquiries, requests, and concerns from guests.
- Coordinate with other departments to fulfill guest special requests.
- Perform cashier duties and post phone charges and other miscellaneous charges to guest accounts.
- Notify housekeeping and maintenance of any reported problems with guestrooms or grounds.
- Follow in-house procedures to help ensure the security of guests and employees.
- Know hotel emergency procedures.
- Maintain cleanliness of the Front Office area.
Requirements
- Flexibility to work AM and PM shifts as needed.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to stand for extended periods of time.
- Ability to maintain control and composure in difficult situations and exhibit good judgment.
Physical Requirements
- Stand and walk for extended periods during the shift.
- Lift and carry luggage, packages, and other items weighing up to 40 pounds.
- Sit, reach, stoop, bend, and kneel as necessary.
