Freight Broker-Logistics

Key Responsibilities

• Sales & Business Development
• Possessors and develops new shipper relationships through cold calling, email outreach, networking, and industry contacts
• Builds and manages a pipeline of freight opportunities across automotive, commercial fleet, and general freight sectors
• Generates and negotiates freight quotes with shippers
• Maintains ongoing relationships with customers to secure repeat business
• Identifies opportunities to expand Duval Fleet Logistics’ transportation services
• Freight Brokerage Operations
• Sources and vets qualified carriers to cover freight shipments
• Negotiates rates with carriers and secures capacity for shipments
• Captures pickup and delivery scheduling between shippers and carriers
• Tracks shipments from dispatch to delivery and proactively resolves issues
• Maintains communication with customers and carriers regarding shipment status
• Ensures proper documentation including rate confirmations, bills of lading, and delivery receipts
• Automotive Logistics Coordination
• Manages transportation of vehicles including dealership transfers, fleet deliveries, and commercial vehicle shipments
• Captures transport providers for vehicle shipments including hotshots, car haulers, and commercial carriers
• Ensures vehicles and freight are transported safely and efficiently
• Administrative & Compliance
• Maintains accurate shipment records and load tracking in logistics systems
• Verifies carrier insurance, safety ratings, and compliance documentation
• Aids with billing, rate verification, and shipment documentation
• Monitors carrier performance and maintains strong carrier relationships

Qualifications

• Required
• 1+ years experience in freight brokerage, logistics coordination, or transportation sales
• Strong sales, negotiation, and relationship-building skills
• Ability to manage multiple shipments simultaneously
• Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
• Strong organizational and time-management abilities
• Preferred
• Current book of business, shipper relationships, warm prospects
• Experience with automotive logistics or vehicle transport
• Knowledge of freight brokerage systems or TMS platforms
• Existing shipper or carrier relationships
• Experience working in a high-volume brokerage or logistics environment
