About the role
The National Youth Advocate Program (NYAP) is seeking interns for its Foster Care team for the Summer and Fall of 2026.
Responsibilities
- Work with foster care youth and foster parents
- Engage in case management
- Learn diagnostic assessments and treatment plans
- Assess and engage with youth
- Observe interventions for youth
- Interact with caregivers, parents, foster parents, school staff, office staff, and other mental health professionals
- Learn documentation and paperwork
- Travel to provide community-based services to, and on behalf of, youth and families
Requirements
- Enrolled in a Bachelor of Social Work or Master of Social Work Program from an accredited College or University
- An internship or field placement is a requirement by the institution
- Must be 21 years of age at the start of the internship
- LSW or SWT licensure required for master’s interns
- Proficient use of desktop and laptop computers, smart phones, tablets, and software including word processing, spreadsheet, and database programs
- Valid driver’s license and reliable personal transportation
- Good driving record
- Minimum automobile insurance coverage of $100,000/$300,000 bodily injury liability
