Foster Care Internship: Warren, OH

About the role

The National Youth Advocate Program (NYAP) is seeking interns for its Foster Care team for the Summer and Fall of 2026.

Responsibilities

• Work with foster care youth and foster parents
• Engage in case management
• Learn diagnostic assessments and treatment plans
• Assess and engage with youth
• Observe interventions for youth
• Interact with caregivers, parents, foster parents, school staff, office staff, and other mental health professionals
• Learn documentation and paperwork
• Travel to provide community-based services to, and on behalf of, youth and families

Requirements

• Enrolled in a Bachelor of Social Work or Master of Social Work Program from an accredited College or University
• An internship or field placement is a requirement by the institution
• Must be 21 years of age at the start of the internship
• LSW or SWT licensure required for master’s interns
• Proficient use of desktop and laptop computers, smart phones, tablets, and software including word processing, spreadsheet, and database programs
• Valid driver’s license and reliable personal transportation
• Good driving record
• Minimum automobile insurance coverage of $100,000/$300,000 bodily injury liability
