Foster Care Internship: Cleveland, OH

About the role

National Youth Advocate Program is accepting internship applications for the Summer 2026 and Fall 2026 semesters to our Foster Care team. In this role, you will get hands-on experience working with the foster care population. During your internship with NYAP, you will also be given the opportunity to rotate into other departments within our agency to gain a more complete understanding of the work our agency does.

Responsibilities

• Working with foster care youth and foster parents
• Working in case management
• Learning diagnostic assessments and treatment plans
• Assessing and engaging with youth
• Observing interventions for youth
• Interacting with caregivers, parents, foster parents, school staff, office staff, and other mental health professionals
• Learning documentation and paperwork
• Traveling daily to provide community-based services to youth and families

Minimum Qualifications

• Must be enrolled in a Bachelor of Social Work program from an accredited College or University
• An internship or field placement must be a requirement by the institution
• Upon the completion of the internship, the individual would receive credit towards their pursued degree
• Proficient use of desktop and laptop computers, smartphones and tablets, as well as software including word processing, spreadsheet and database programs

Driving and Vehicle Requirements

• Valid driver’s license
• Reliable personal transportation
• Good driving record
• Minimum automobile insurance coverage of $100,000/$300,000 bodily injury liability
