This position is accountable for building and setting forms made of wood, metal, vinyl, and other materials in accordance with customer specifications (plans). The Form Setter drives wooden and metal stakes with a sledgehammer and secures forms using nails and other fasteners. The role requires flexibility to work varying shifts (8-12 hours), including weekends and overtime as production demands.

Responsibilities

  • Builds, erects, and aligns forms for various concrete structures and pier foundations using preformed forming systems.
  • Sets anchor bolts for drilled pier foundations.
  • Estimates concrete quantities and appropriate mixes.
  • Interprets blueprints, reads survey stakes, and calculates areas and volumes.
  • Spreads concrete to specified depth and workable consistency.
  • Performs rough leveling and shaping of concrete surfaces.
  • Removes rough or defective spots from concrete surfaces using power grinders and similar tools.
  • Mixes cement using concrete mixing machines.
  • Assists other workers and the foreman as needed.
  • Mentors and trains other foundation employees.
  • Completes and maintains work records, field paperwork, and generates reports.
  • Supports the drilling process when necessary.
  • Operates equipment and tools such as cement mixing machines, power trowels, small mechanical hoists, surveying and measuring equipment.
  • Maintains equipment and tools to ensure long-lasting use.
  • Adheres to confidentiality policies regarding proprietary or trade secret information.

  • Responsible for personal safety and the safety of co-workers.
  • Authorized and obligated to stop work if unsafe conditions are observed.
  • Complies with all applicable laws, regulations, and company policies.
  • Reports all violations of laws, regulations, or company policies.
  • Performs other duties as assigned, including certification and safety training.

Requirements

  • A minimum of three years of experience finishing concrete structures, setting steel preformed forming systems, and pouring concrete.
  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Ability to work in varying weather and site conditions.
  • Capable of lifting, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, and reaching.

Physical/Mental Requirements

  • Must be able to perform essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Must properly utilize personal protective equipment (PPE) such as hard hats, safety glasses, respirators, ear plugs, and steel-toed shoes.
  • Ability to identify critical issues and formulate action plans with all levels of management.
  • Must remain calm during emergencies and respond appropriately as directed.
  • Capable of evacuating work areas in a timely manner during emergencies.
