About the Role

We are looking for a Quality Control Floater to join our team as backup support for QC Technicians during absences and high-demand periods. This role ensures consistent production quality by enforcing good manufacturing practices, validating processes, performing audits, and maintaining documentation. You will report to the Quality Manager at the Millville plant on a full-time schedule.

Responsibilities

  • Cross-train with QC Technicians to provide backup support during absences or high-demand periods
  • Monitor and verify daily compliance of SOPs
  • Perform daily pre-operational and operational plant inspections; authorize or halt the start of processing operations in conjunction with the production department
  • Continuously monitor that the site follows Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs)
  • Ensure compliance of all raw materials, packaging materials, products in process, and finished products to specifications
  • Perform laboratory tests such as APC, Mold and Yeast for finished products
  • Conduct in-process quality control lab testing, including viscosity, total solids, pH, and particle size
  • Perform allergen testing (e.g., Elisa Gluten, Gluten Lateral Flow) for raw materials, transportation units, in-process, and finished products
  • Create Certificates of Analysis for product release
  • Maintain logs and records, including inventory of lab chemicals
  • Comply with GMPs, PPE, sanitation procedures, general housekeeping, food safety, and food defense practices
  • Enter test results into the lab data system and generate reports
  • Collaborate with operations, engineering, and purchasing departments to resolve supplier quality issues with raw materials
  • Maintain working knowledge of all instruments used for routine and non-routine sample testing and troubleshooting
  • Conduct timely root cause analysis and enforce improvements to process controls
  • Assist in the start of processing operations in conjunction with the production department
  • Perform ATP, environmental, and allergen swabbing to support plant operations
  • Communicate raw material and product quality issues to management
  • Support the Quality Manager with quality projects, LIMS implementation, and other initiatives
  • Perform document control in Bizzmine
  • Review and validate record completion in LIMS and Solvace
  • Conduct scheduled internal audits to ensure compliance with Oatly policies, procedures, and regulatory standards
  • Support training for quality and operations teams on laboratory tests, document database systems, SOPs, monitoring programs, and change control processes
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Must be 18 years or older with the ability to read, write, and speak English for work instructions, including safety purposes
  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent required
  • 2-4 years of schooling in Food Science, Microbiology, Chemistry, Biology, or related fields preferred
  • 2+ years of lab testing experience
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Strong mathematics skills
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Superior communication and organization skills
  • Ability to make decisions on quality issues
  • Ability to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, up to 20 pounds frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or move objects
  • Ability to work in cold and hot environments (approximately 38°F–80°F)
  • Mobility to move between worksites (up to 1-mile range), including in-plant departments (Shipping, Receiving, Production) and Oatly’s 3rd party warehouse
  • Ability to repeat motions involving wrists, hands, and/or fingers, and stand or sit for prolonged periods (8-12 hours)
