This role involves assuming inventory control responsibilities across multiple Illinois facilities, filling schedule gaps and rotating between locations as needed.
About the Role
The Inventory Control Clerk is responsible for conducting cycle counts and bin location audits, researching and reconciling inventory discrepancies, and supporting inventory-related functions for materials, supplies, tools, equipment, and parts in stockrooms, warehouses, or yards.
- Spends 80% or more of the workday performing inventory activities in the warehouse using an RF Gun or Tablet.
- Spends 20% or less of the workday working at a computer terminal.
- Travels to and assists at other facilities as required.
Responsibilities
- Performs physical counts of inventory items to maintain accurate inventory records.
- Counts and reconciles randomly selected part numbers and/or locations daily.
- Accurately inputs inventory control data to ensure inventory integrity.
- Completes necessary documentation thoroughly, accurately, and on time.
- Traces item history to determine reasons for discrepancies between inventory and stock control records; recommends remedial actions.
- Ensures compliance with inventory processes, procedures, and contractual obligations.
- Physically counts articles or products on shelves, racks, and pallets.
- Uses a computer terminal to account for inventory issues, returns, and documentation.
- Reads and interprets safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Writes routine reports and correspondence.
Requirements
- Minimum 1-3 months of related experience and/or training in Inventory Control.
- Minimum 1-3 months of related experience and/or training in a warehouse environment.
- Prior experience operating material handling equipment; order selector or cherry picker/high lift experience preferred.
- Willingness to be certified and use material handling equipment is required.
- Experience using WMS software (Synapse preferred) is a plus.
- PC literate with experience in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and Access Database.
- High School Diploma or GED equivalency.
- Must have reliable transportation.
- Must have a working cell phone to receive daily work assignments.
- Ability to start at any RJW Illinois location upon notification.
Skills
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with concrete variables in situations with limited standardization.
- Ability to interpret instructions in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
- Ability to determine the root cause of problems and implement corrective actions.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite for writing emails and creating/interpreting reports.
Physical Demands
- Occasionally lifts and/or moves up to 55 pounds.
- Frequently stands, walks, stoops, kneels, crouches, or crawls.
- Must be articulate and comfortable speaking in front of others.
- Frequently required to talk, hear, stand, and walk for extended periods.
- Ability to work in excess of 8 continuous hours when required.
- Ability to work under stressful situations while maintaining accuracy and multitasking.
- Must have 20/20 corrected vision to read and discern visual images on various media.
- Must be able to speak and communicate clearly over telephones.
- Must be in sound physical health as determined by a certified licensed physician, with no evidence of controlled substance use.
Work Environment
- Occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts and fumes or airborne particles.
- Noise levels range from quiet to moderately loud.
