Forestview Lead Maintenance Engineer - 6:00am - 2:30pm

Contract: 12 months, 8-hour days
Salary Range: $16.29–$29.60 per hour

About the Role

Under the direct supervision of the Director of Buildings and Grounds, the Lead Maintenance Engineer maintains high custodial standards, conducts maintenance in school buildings and grounds, keeps equipment in functional condition, and demonstrates excellent time management and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Perform all custodial duties
• Regulate heating, ventilation, and cooling mechanical systems
• Maintain and repair plumbing and electrical systems
• Maintain and repair fire and clock systems
• Repair and maintain kitchen and cafeteria equipment
• Perform carpentry tasks
• Utilize computer skills for facility management
• Manage energy recovery systems and hydronic building heating systems
• Order and maintain chemical supplies
• Support all school district and community activities
• Ensure all areas of the building are secure
• Communicate building or personnel issues to the Director of Buildings and Grounds
• Operate and maintain boilers (safety-sensitive duty)
• Perform lockout/tagout procedures (safety-sensitive duty)
• Conduct confined space entry (safety-sensitive duty)
• Maintain and operate lawn and tractor equipment
• Maintain and operate weed whips and other lawn maintenance equipment
• Maintain and operate snow removal equipment
• Operate aerial lifts over ten feet
• Operate school district vehicles according to District guidelines
• Schedule and oversee maintenance activities
• Schedule and supervise employees

Equipment

• Hand tools of the trade and related power equipment
• Brooms, mops, floor cleaning and waxing machines
• Vacuum cleaners
• Snow blowers, shovels
• Power mowers and hand tools

Safety Requirements

• Follow all applicable safety rules, procedures, and regulations governing the proper use of tools and power equipment
• Use appropriate safety gear
• Comply with the school district's chemical hygiene program and follow Safety Data Sheets (SDS)

Requirements

• 1st Class C Boilers License or ability to obtain the license within an agreed-upon timeframe
• MN Motor Vehicle Operator's license or ability to provide own transportation
• Ability to follow oral or written work orders and coordinate work with principals and others
• Ability to read, write, and speak English fluently
• Ability to describe cleaning, maintenance, or repair problems orally or in writing
• Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with students, staff, and others
• Basic arithmetic skills (add, subtract, multiply, and divide all units of measure)
• Ability to work in poor weather conditions, including heat, cold, rain, or snow
• Ability to work above ground from ladders and automatic lifts
• Ability to perform work according to standard procedures and schedules set by supervisors

Physical and Mental Demands

• Works in standard office and school building environments
• Ability to work outdoors in inclement weather conditions
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
• Frequent walking, bending, twisting, turning, crouching, etc.
• Ability to see and hear to the extent necessary to perform essential duties
• Exposure to cleaning chemicals, solvents, contaminated trash, grasses, pollens, etc.

Qualifications

Any combination of education and experience providing the required skill and knowledge for successful performance is qualifying. Typical qualifications include:

• High school diploma or equivalent education sufficient to perform the duties
• Previous experience in building maintenance and cleaning
