FOREMAN OF CUSTODIAL WORKERS

About the role

Foreman of Custodial Worker position with the Chicago Department of Aviation (CDA), Custodial/Labor Services. Number of positions: 2 (additional vacancies possible pending budget approval). This is a career service position. Location: 10510 West Zemke.

Responsibilities

• Oversee and supervise Custodial Workers performing cleaning and custodial duties in building interiors of city facilities.
• Actively work alongside the custodial team as a working foreman.
• Make daily work assignments and prioritize work based on available manpower and planned work objectives.
• Drive to outlying sites on airport service roads to inspect and oversee work of custodial workers in facilities throughout the airport complex.
• Supervise custodial workers engaged in various cleaning tasks, monitoring work activities and inspecting work in progress.
• Oversee cleaning of restrooms, ensuring surfaces, fixtures, toilets are properly cleaned and disinfected, trash removed, and supplies replenished.
• Oversee staff cleaning of office areas, lobbies, stairways, and corridors, ensuring proper cleaning of tabletops, furniture, walls, partitions, and doors using various cleaning solutions, wash towels, and other cleaning products.
• Monitor staff activities to ensure proper use of cleaning equipment such as heavy‑duty powered scrubbers and polishers for stripping, waxing, and buffing floors, and vacuum cleaners, shampoo equipment, and solvents for vacuuming and chemically cleaning carpeted areas.
• Monitor and ensure proper disposal of trash and recycling materials and use of refuse compactors.
