Duties

  • Prepares food displays in counter cases and other display units.
  • Greets customers as they arrive at the service counter and takes orders.
  • Weighs, or apportions the selected foods on plates, trays and/or bags.
  • Serves light food items requiring little or no preparation time to patrons from a service cart at a beach side resort property location (items sold may include hot dogs, chips, ice cream, shaved ice, pretzels, nachos, and cold refreshments).
  • Performs expeditor duties by delivering food to customers or bringing out food to a service buffet area.
  • Performs a variety of duties incident to the maintenance, cleanliness, and sanitation of the area to which assigned.

Requirements

  • Direct Deposit and Social Security Card is required.
  • Meet qualification/eligibility/background requirements for this position.
  • A one-year probationary period may be required.
  • Satisfactorily complete an employment verification (E-Verify) check.
  • Subject to satisfactory completion of all pre-employment checks in accordance with AR 215-3, para.2 to include a Child Care Tier 1 background investigation.
  • Must be able to lift or move objects up to 40 pounds unassisted, and occasionally lift or move objects weighing over 40 pounds with the assistance of other workers or lifting devices.
  • Work area is often hot and noisy, and there is exposure to sun, minor cuts and bruises, burns and scalds. There is danger of slipping on floors which are wet from daily mopping or spilled food or beverages.
  • Work requires constant standing and walking, reaching and stooping.

A qualified candidate must possess the following experience or training that indicates sufficient knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the duties of this position consistent with acceptable practices of the trade including but not limited to:

  • Ability to work without more than normal supervision.
  • Ability to keep things neat, clean, and in order.
  • Possess basic food preparation and handling techniques.
  • Ability to interpret verbal and written instructions.
  • Knowledge of basic sanitation principles.
  • Ability to use and maintain kitchen tools and equipment.
  • Must have knowledge of basic arithmetic such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions, and decimals in order to take orders and provide change; and determine the number of portions required.

Additional Information

Area of Consideration: This job is open to candidates who are within the Local / Surrounding Commuting Area (within 50 miles of Fort Knox). Military Spouse Preference (MSP) and Involuntarily Separated Military Preference (ISMP) eligible candidates are included in the area of consideration.

PCS Costs: Payment of Permanent Change of Station (PCS) costs are not authorized.

Allowances and Differentials: This job falls under the Federal Wage Schedule (FWS) pay system. FWS employees earn overtime pay for working more than 8 hours in a day or more than 40 hours in a week -- whichever gives the employee more benefit. Regular full-time, regular part-time, and regularly scheduled flexible employees may receive Sunday premium pay for working on Sundays. Employees may also be eligible to receive extra pay if the majority of their scheduled hours falls after 3:00 PM. Non-foreign overseas allowances, cost of living (COLA), and differentials will not be paid, contingent upon eligibility.
