Starting pay range: $22.75 - $24.75 per hour. Full pay range: $22.75 - $38.65 per hour. Pay is based on several factors including labor markets, education, work experience, and certifications.

About the role
Working at Target means helping all families discover the joy of everyday life. The Food & Beverage team enables a consistent experience for guests by ensuring product freshness, stock availability, accurate pricing, and proper signing on the sales floor. This team leads food and food services, including replenishment, inventory accuracy, food safety, presentation, pricing, and promotional signing for all Food & Beverage areas of the store.
This role provides opportunities to build skills in guest service, food and beverage business fundamentals, workload planning, and team leadership.
Responsibilities
- Consistently deliver guest experience commitments to create an easy, inspiring, and friendly experience
- Train and ensure team members understand and deliver on Target’s guest experience commitments and consistent operations
- Observe and provide feedback, holding team members accountable while recognizing great guest experiences
- Review guest, financial, and team outcome metrics to identify opportunities, improve execution, and celebrate wins
- Plan and execute daily/weekly workload to meet department and store sales goals and guest engagement, including food service transitions, revisions, sales plans, sampling, and promotions
- Assign daily tasks based on planned workload and guest traffic patterns, aligning with business priorities
- Assess food service areas (back of house, production, dining, merchandising) for food safety and proper inventory levels
- Walk Food & Beverage standards and routines daily to identify business gaps for follow-up
- Follow all food safety requirements, including monitoring and recording temperature-sensitive food items
- Validate and follow up on team members’ progress against department checklists and routines
- Lead team to uphold Starbucks and Pizza Hut brand standards and production specifications (where applicable)
- Ensure accurate in-stocks by placing store-initiated orders according to best practices
- Follow perishable inventory management procedures to maintain accurate inventory records
- Make just-in-time production decisions to ensure freshness, in-stocks, sales, and profitability
- Stay up-to-date on relevant trends and products to educate team members
- Participate in team hiring and onboarding processes
- Establish clear goals and expectations, holding team members accountable
- Complete all Starbucks and/or Pizza Hut training requirements and certifications, in addition to Food Safety Manager Certification
- Demonstrate and lead a culture of ethical conduct, safety, and compliance
- Model and recognize safe behaviors, identify and correct hazards, and ensure team accountability for safety
- Demonstrate inclusivity by valuing diverse voices and creating equitable experiences
- Lead and model best practices, closing skill gaps through development and coaching
- Support merchandise protection strategies, including ordering, storage, and application
- Assume store-level leadership on duty (LOD) responsibilities as needed to enable the guest experience
- Address all store emergency and compliance needs
- Support guest services such as back-up cashier, order pick-up (OPU), and Drive-up (DU) while maintaining compliance
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Must be at least 18 years of age or older
- Previous retail experience preferred but not required
- Strong interest and knowledge of the food service business
- Ability to lead and hold others accountable
- Effective communication skills using multiple frequency devices, handheld scanners, and other technology
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Capability to manage workload and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment
- Welcoming and helpful attitude toward guests and team members
Skills
- Guest service fundamentals and experience building a guest-first and freshness culture
- Food & Beverage business fundamentals: sales trends, freshness, food safety, inventory management, guest shopping patterns, pricing, and promotions
- Planning daily/weekly workload to support business priorities and deliver sales
- Leading a team, including interviewing, training, coaching, evaluating, retaining, and developing talent
Schedule
- Open to working a variable work schedule with varying hours, days, or shifts (including nights, weekends, holidays, closing shifts, and other peak shopping times)
- Full-time role, but hours may fluctuate based on business needs and are not guaranteed at 40 hours per week
Physical Requirements
- Access all areas of the building to respond to guest or team member issues
- Interpret instructions, reports, and information
- Accurately handle cash register operations as needed
- Climb up and down ladders if needed
- Scan, handle, and move merchandise efficiently and safely, including frequently lifting or moving merchandise up to 44 pounds without assistance
- Work in environments with refrigeration, freezer temperatures, and common allergens
- Capable of working in varying temperatures, humidity, and other elements (e.g., Drive-Ups, carryout)
- Ability to remain mobile for the duration of scheduled shifts (shift length may vary)
