Flex Patient Care Nursing Resource Pool

Part-time position in the Nursing Resource Pool/Float Pool at Trinity Health Ann Arbor.

About the role

The Patient Care Technician (PCT), under the direction of a registered nurse, provides direct patient care considering age-specific, developmental, cultural, and spiritual needs. Assists in establishing and maintaining a clean, safe patient care environment conducive to patient and family wellbeing, following relationship-based care concepts.

Schedule

• 10:30pm–7:00am or 7pm–7am shifts
• Flex status: minimum 48 hours per 6-week schedule
• Every other weekend and 4 holidays per year (at least 1 winter holiday) required for full-time and part-time team members

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED
• Minimum of one year of previous direct care experience (acute or long-term care) or successful completion of a CENA or PCT course
• Student nurses must have completed the nursing fundamentals class of a BSN program

Responsibilities

• Assist patients with activities of daily living (ADLs): bathing, showering, toileting, positioning, turning, transferring, ambulation using assistive devices, feeding, and menu selection
• Collect and send specimens, including blood and blood cultures
• Insert and remove peripheral IV catheters
• Record patient information and required data to meet documentation requirements

Training is provided to prepare colleagues for success. PCTs float only within Trinity Health Ann Arbor, with focused orientation and training on equipment, processes, and procedures.
