Essential Functions
- Performs inspections.
- Performs routine and assists with complex repairs on vehicles and equipment.
- Performs preventive maintenance on vehicles and equipment.
- Prepares new vehicles for service.
- Determines amount of materials required for projects.
- Operates or uses various machinery, equipment, power tools, hand tools, and supplies.
- Processes a variety of documentation associated with department/division operations, within designated timeframes and per established procedures.
- Communicates with supervisor, other employees, clients, and other individuals as needed.
- May be required to work after normal business hours, weekends, holidays, Standby Duty or be called out as needed 24 hours/day 7 days/week to maintain service to customers.
Minimum Qualifications
- A High School Diploma or GED required; supplemented by four years of experience in vehicle and equipment maintenance.
- Must reside within a radius of Orangeburg, SC that allows for a 30-minute maximum response.
- Must possess valid South Carolina Driver’s License.
- Must obtain and maintain a valid SC Commercial Driver’s License (CDL).
- Must obtain and maintain Automotive Excellence Service (ASE) certifications and be certified by Fluid Power in hydraulics and/or by the National Welding Society in welding.
Specific Knowledge, Skills, or Abilities
- Must have basic knowledge of mechanics, wiring, electrical systems, electronic components, and some welding.
- Must be able to read testing devices, technical manuals, charts, and various mechanical measuring gauges.
