Key Responsibilities
- Ensures the timely and efficient management of maintenance and mechanical repairs for the Cataldo Fleet.
- Lead the performance of advanced diagnostics, repairs on engines, electrical and hydraulic systems.
- Maintain and repair emergency equipment, lighting systems, oxygen systems, and vehicle mounted electronics.
- Use OEM and advanced diagnostic software to troubleshoot complex issues.
- Troubleshooting, diagnosing, and performing mechanical repairs and maintenance on company fleet vehicles including wheelchair vans, and ambulances for both.
- Maintenance and repair of stretchers, generators, and other equipment maintained by Fleet Services.
- Conduct and documents vehicle inspections and certification related maintenance.
- Ensures fleet is performing preventative maintenance in a timely manner to reduce breakdowns and costs.
- Laison between fleet services, the fleet director and operational managers regarding concerns, and proactively facilitating solutions with services or equipment.
- Collaborate with the Fleet Services Director on fleet planning, workflow and quality assurance.
- Ensures timely notification to operations or facilities of any equipment that needs to be re-stocked or replaced.
- Aid in leadership, guidance and direction for fleet staff.
- Create and maintain reports and communicate with other departments to ensure clear documentation and flow of information.
- Ensure newly hired staff receive proper training and meet compliance, leading and mentoring junior mechanics, providing technical guidance and oversight.
- Evaluate needs of the department, researching solutions and presenting recommendations for financial and departmental consideration.
- Manage employee scheduling and coverage.
- Participate in the hiring process, promotions, and progressive disciplinary action.
- Assist in the performance evaluation process.
- Ensure compliance with CAAS GVS and state regulatory maintenance standards.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA, company safety requirements and standards.
- Assist in keeping vehicle locations and moves updated on vehicle status board.
- Completes Quality Control review for vehicles after scheduled maintenance or repairs.
- Perform roadside repairs and or vehicles inspections outside of the fleet maintenance locations.
- Fleet manager will act as alternate on the company safety committee and/or the Massachusetts ambulance association.
Requirements
- Must be 18 years of age.
- Satisfactory background check and MA CORI, verification required annually.
- Verification of an acceptable motor vehicle driving record, verification required annually.
Physical Requirements
- The ability to routinely stand, walk, bend, lift, and work at elevated heights in all weather conditions.
- The ability to safely lift up to 50 lbs. unassisted, occasionally lifting up to 100 lbs. using dollies.
- Navigate active, loud truck environments.
- Exposure to heights, fumes, grease and loud noises.
