Job Requirements
OmniCable is seeking a Transportation Manager to establish, administer and oversee transportation operations within company and Department of Transportation (DOT) standards. This role requires the ability to lead and direct a team of drivers, as well as ensure compliance and safety standards.
What You’ll Do
- Manage day-to-day fleet operations, including driver and vehicle scheduling and dispatch
- Oversee fleet vehicle maintenance and the coordination of repairs
- Act as the primary point of contact for drivers, vendors and department leaders who need information related to vehicle scheduling and operation
- Monitor compliance of all fleet team member certifications, licensing and safety requirements
- Investigate safety and accident concerns, oversee reporting of accidents to various insurance carriers
- Work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders to ensure that fleet operations align with and support overall business objectives
- Monitor driver performance and pay activities
What You’ll Need
- Adherence to DOT, state, and local driving record standards, completion of background checks and drug screenings, maintain a valid CDL Class A License and TWIC card for the duration of employment
- Expert knowledge of driving, delivery, driver scheduling, dispatching, vehicle maintenance and other industry best practices
- Leadership experience, including hiring, training and monitoring drivers to ensure productivity, compliance and safety
- A minimum of 8 years fleet operations, including driving experience
- Ensure compliance with driver safety regulations, including the proper maintenance of driver training records, personnel files and training documentation
- Ability to analyze transportation data and identify trends that could impact fuel efficiency, team productivity or vehicle availability
- Familiarity with transportation scheduling and management software
- Understanding of basic truck mechanics, including the ability to identify when major repairs are needed
- Profound problem solving, critical thinking and decision-making skills
- Excellent organization, time management and multitasking abilities
- Applicants must be 21 or older and fluent in reading and writing English
- Ability to travel; up to 50% of the time, including overnight travel
