About the Role

The Modern Languages and Cultures Department is recruiting a pool of applicants for possible part-time adjunct teaching positions in Arabic, French, Italian, Mandarin Chinese, Japanese, Portuguese, Spanish, and Modern Cultures. Courses are offered at beginning, intermediate, and advanced levels.

Adjunct instructors are responsible for delivering relevant course material, assessing student performance, providing guidance and assistance to students both in and out of the classroom, and submitting grades on time. Course descriptions are available in the online catalog.

Requirements

• Earned Master’s degree, plus thirty (30) additional and appropriate graduate credits and/or evidence of scholarly achievement, professional activities, and teaching experience.
• The Master’s degree requirement may be waived if the candidate is enrolled in a doctoral program where the Master’s degree is not required.

Qualifications

• Preferred: PhD or other terminal degree in a related field.

Schedule

This is a part-time adjunct teaching position beginning in Spring 2026. Review of applications will commence immediately and continue until the position is filled. The department will maintain this posting to create a pool of candidates for potential future assignments and will contact applicants whose qualifications align with programmatic needs.

Pay

Compensation is governed by the UCE-FIT Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA). The base rate is $89.98 per hour for candidates meeting minimum qualifications. The final rate, step, and appointment rank may be higher based on demonstrated qualifications, in accordance with the CBA Adjunct Salary Schedules (pp 88-89).
