Fiscal Specialist
Salary range: $24.35 - $32.15
About the role
The Waukesha County Department of Parks and Land Use - Administration Division is seeking a Fiscal Specialist to support the day-to-day operations of the Waukesha County parks system, including two golf courses, two ice arenas, Retzer Nature Center, and the Exposition Center, as well as the Environmental Health, Land Resources, and Planning divisions. This position plays an integral part in the department’s administrative operations and directly supports services and facilities that contribute to the quality of life in the community.
Responsibilities
- Process payables, receivables, and purchase orders
- Assist with biweekly payroll completion for department staff
- Reconcile cash, check, and credit card shift activity
- Monitor select balance sheet accounts
- Collaborate with colleagues across the department to contribute to efficient operations
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED
- Three years of post-high school work experience in finance or accounting
- Post-high school education in accounting, finance, business, or a closely related field may substitute for work experience on a year-for-year basis
- Familiarity with general accounting procedures, journal entries, and billing
- Strong fiscal skills, computer literacy, and attention to detail
- Process-improvement mindset and excellent customer service and teamwork skills
